National Marine Sanctuary Foundation Announces Registration for Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2019 Events

Registration for Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2019 (CHOW 2019) events, taking place June 4-6 in Washington, DC, is now available. Hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, CHOW offers a unique opportunity to learn from and interact with conservation and policy leaders from around the world. This year’s events include the Capitol Hill Ocean Week Conference, the 17th Annual Ocean Awards Gala, and CHOW Hill Day.

CHOW 2019 Conference (June 4 and 5)

The nation’s premier ocean policy conference, CHOW provides the opportunity for individuals to learn more about conservation and how they can get involved. This year, through main-stage plenary sessions and concurrent sessions that allow attendees to learn about more specific topics of interest to them,  distinguished speakers and panelists across sectors will address four themes:

  • Grand Challenges Facing the Ocean and Great Lakes
  • Conserving Wildlife
  • Oceans and Human Health
  • Sustainable Fisheries

CHOW programming is open-source and available to the public free of charge with main-stage plenary sessions broadcast via livestream. Learn more and register at capitolhilloceanweek.org.

Ocean Awards Gala (June 5)

Every year, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation hosts the Ocean Awards Gala to recognize and celebrate champions of marine and Great Lakes stewardship. Hosted at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, past honorees include President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, Members of Congress and leading philanthropists and scientists from around the world. Guests enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail reception, post-program dessert reception, a menu featuring sustainable seafood, an exciting silent auction, and opportunities to mix and mingle with ocean thought-leaders and enthusiasts. This year, we celebrate honorees for lifetime achievement, conservation innovation, and outstanding volunteer service.

Individual tickets are available for purchase at capitolhilloceanweek.org/gala. For information about table sponsorships, please contact us at conference@marinesanctuary.org or call 301.608.3040 x 310.

CHOW Hill Day (June 6)

To cap off the week, we will host our second annual CHOW Hill Day where we will keep the conversation going on Capitol Hill. Featuring two unique events, Hill Day provides participants the opportunity to learn from and network with members of the ocean conservation community, Administration officials, and Members of Congress and their staff. Learn about current ocean and Great Lakes policy issues from Congressional staff at our morning coffee session and conclude the day at the official Capitol Hill Ocean Week closing reception.
